How to use the pellet stove
The condo can get cold during the winter months, so here is how to keep it toasty. The main source of heat for the living room and kitchen is the pellet stove. Please utilize it during the day and evenings to keep the upstairs warm in addition to the electric heater. Only the electric heater should be on at night and during the day while you are gone.
To operate the Quadrafire Castle Bay 1200 Pellet Stove pellet stove:
Start by making sure there are pellets in the stove. Check by opening the top of the stove (using the handle). Don’t open the top of the pellet stove while it is running. If you need to add pellets, they are in the silver bucket to the left of the stove along with a scoop. There are spare pellets by the front door or Nomadness can be contacted to get more if you run out.
Make sure the front glass door is closed
Turn the stove ON using the thermostat on the right side of the machine. All you need to do to operate the stove is turn the Temperature switch from Off to Heat. The Set switch should remain in Run and that does not need to be changed (see image for thermostat below).
The up and down arrows can be used to change the temperature. 71 degrees seems to be nice and toasty but not too warm.
The stove is set in Manual mode and will turn off when it reaches the correct temperature and turn back on when it has dropped a few degrees. This happens automatically.
It is best to check the stove before starting it to make the pellet hopper on top is full. If it does run out of pellets when you are operating it, follow these instructions:
Occasionally the appliance may run out of fuel and shut itself down. When this happens, the red call light will be on (on the right side of the unit). To restart it, fill the hopper and press the reset button (also on the right side of the unit - see image below). When you press the reset button the red call light will go out. Release the button and the light will come back on. You should see a fire in a few minutes. If this doesn’t work, follow the instructions in the owner’s manual on page 10.
Be sure to turn the stove off when you go to bed at night or are leaving the condo
In case the stove isn’t working at all:
Call the Nomadness office at (818) 883-2488
There are 2 radiant heaters (located in the upper and lower master bedroom closets) that you can use in the main living area
Using the electric heat:
Each bedroom has 2 units (1 radiant heater and 1 fan). Both are controlled by the thermostat and go between 55-75 degrees
If the noise from the fan heater wakes you at night, you can turn off the fan unit with the switch located above it (the radiant heater will stay on and should maintain a comfortable temperature)
